When you're using your credit card whilst on holiday, you could be wracking up more debt than you ever imagined.
Nationwide has issues a warning over Dynamic Currency Conversion when using your credit cards in foreign countries. What this means is that when you use your credit card to pay for things in a foreign currency you're actually paying pound sterling and the banks and providers are working out the exchange rate themselves. Needless to say, this can be pricey.
The group's research showed that in just four ski resorts in europe last year, £34,000 was thrown away as a result of needless fees being paid on credit card transactions.
A recent report from the Telegraph showed that the amount of customers paying in sterling when abroad rose by 120 per cent last year.
If you're thinking of using a credit card abroad this year, make sure you do your research into all the fees involved. If you're not sure, don't use it unless absolutely neccessary.
